Zoran,

The LPKF machine you have is a high dollar item! VERY high quality,
and if you change the drives, you likely won't be able to use their
software any longer, and it is VERY GOOD; assuming you are looking to
engrave or do pcb work!!!

There is(or should be) a "nosecone" around the cutter which has 3
ball bearings which ride on the surface of the material and limit the
depth of cut when engraving pcb, or other material(signage, or front
panel work).

This machine is STILL worth MANY thousands of dollars! Be sure you
are not destroying the value you ALREADY have...

LPKF is still very active in the pcb machine market, and has a
website and USA distributor.
I would certainly check to see what they can/will do for you!!!!

Hope this helps.

P.S. The 89series and 91series are cheaper models, so you can get an
idea that a 101HI-P is NOT the bottom of the line...

P.P.S. PMD makes motion control chips. They *may* be the source of
the chip you see. Performance Motion Devices.

out that tyhe steppers really are 5 phase motors, and possibly are
Oriental Motors production. Scratched chip has a marking either
PMM... or HMM... or something simmilar and, logically, it generates
the 5 phase signals for motor. I'll try to contact LPKF to obtain
more info on the drivers. The machine is 101HI-P, and it is only PCB
drill (no Z axis stepper, only Electromagnet with damper).
