You mention that you have the original control box for the LPKF.
Would you be willing to take pictures of it and/or sell it? I have an
LPKF ColorCAM. A big thing it is. Took two people to move it. I got
NO electronics. I've been buying the parts one at a time. The hardest
part was the spindle. I had to buy a controller for the spindle that
came with mine. Do you have the spindle control electronics? Would
you be willing to sell them? I am always looking for LPKF parts and
pieces as well as more information on the ColorCAM machine. Please
let me know. Thank you.
Btw, I am currently working on a conversion program for LPKF machines
that is written in visual basic and can drive 2 phase and 5 phase
steppers as well as several servo motor drivers/motion controllers. I
even found a way to use the solenoid Z axis as a linear motor using a
PWM circuit and the varying inductance of a varying amount of iron in
the solenoid (position of plunger) through the use of a seperate low
power carrier frequency. After all the drill bits I was breaking, I
decided there had to be a better way to program the solenoid with
accel/decel curves. It all works from a parallel port too. Four
output lines go to the X & Y steppers, two lines go to the limit
switches all wired in parallel as well as the spindle down limit
switch, and two lines tell the programmable solenoid to either mill
or drill. The servo version uses the serial port. Complicated to
build one, simple to build many. I have several more months of
debugging and research until completion, but at least I'm not bored ;)
