Some of the guys in the modeling chat do it all the time, and it works
well. But yes, you can tell the raw box from injection molded, very
hard to match injection. Painting with high quality paint can fix that
though.
But DON'T! Most important thing about it is you probably shouldn't be
making cases! You'll never match someone in the business of making them
for low quantities. These guys are exceptionally cheap, is why I
bookmarked them. Amazingly, I actually found the right link I was
looking for in my old bookmarks:
http://electronicsusa.com/miniboxphotos.html
Prices:
http://www.west.net/~wpc/miniboxes.html
Seems the main page has changed, really comes back to:
http://electronicsusa.com/miniboxes.html
MK52 at 1 x 2 x .7 looks to be about exactly what you're wanting. You
probably couldn't even build one case for the $9.90 + $2.95 shipping
they charge for 10 of their's. Even have your choice of colors and
clear..
Only if you HAVE to have a custom shape or really high tech looking
case, should you even consider making your own. Even then, it's usually
cheaper and you can usually find someone that makes a premade case that
is close enough, unless you're talking hundreds quantities..
