I'd want to get some money out of them. For a start, the more you take from
them the more they realise why they shouldn't be letting their 12 year olds
run around outside at night. The parents will know precisely what the kids
are doing, or atleast have a damned good idea. When a 12 year old is out at
12am he's not going to be fixing up the motorway and cleaning up spilt
trash. I refuse to believe anyone short of being mentally inhibited, such as
ADHD suffers, can not be disciplined into doing what they're told. When
shouting doesn't work, hit them, there's nothing cruel about that I don't
think.

Reason number two. If the things in your shop were insured at their current
value you are most likely not going to get the money back they burnt. Suing
them is the only way to make up for that loss. There are numerous grounds
for suing, endangerment of your family, mental scaring (fear of not being
able to leave your kids at home) etc. Reason number three is easy, revenge.
I won't pretend I'm a good enough person not to think about revenge if
someone torches my house with my kids in it and then hospitalises them.

I still believe you can not place the entire blame on 12 year olds. 12 year
olds don't drink, vote, own guns, have sex, drive cars, watch adult films,
get married or even buy fireworks legally. That means the whole are not
ready to give 12 year olds that level of responsibility, why? Because people
that age do not ever think of what they're doing having a result. They knew
lighting a house would be bad, they didn't know it was something someone had
worked years for and was proud of. What interests me is that right now I
can't vote or get married without my parents permission, however, I can load
2000lb bombs onto planes, service artillery pieces and if need be, be killed
for my country in a war.
