Ray I had that problem with both the newer downloadable BDI and with your
tarball. First I tried the newer BDI on a clean disk and had the "Can't
connect
to emc" error, so I tried the tarball on the original BDI with the same
results.

One thing I noticed was the newer BDI went to a different directory than the
original BDI and when I installed the tarball I put that into a different
directory
than the original BDI. Neither would run, but when I installed the tarball
over
the original BDI in the /usr/local/emc directory, it worked fine. Was the
fix
just a path problem?
