The bug in smdromod has been fixed - Within 24hrs of Allen reporting problems,
the problem had been identified and a hack put forward. Within 72hrs, Will
commited the updated code to Sourceforge.

One thing to note - smdromod uses freqmod to drive the steppers, so will need a
resonable spec computer. It is possible to link in steppermod instead, but this
has not been tested.
