FWIW, I don't think either of my 5hp CNC lathes would do that cut.
The 10EE is a belt drive machine so I'd guess that at that diameter
it may not have enough belt "traction". At 450sfm cutting speed, the
spindle rpm would be about 575. Pretty slow to transmit much torque
without a gearhead.
Incidently, Machinery's Handbook has a section on estimating
horespower for various machining operations. To use their info you
would have to know the approximate hardness of your material.
