RE: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Monarch 10EE lathe

Actually, I believe that I may have a few extra panels for the 10EE around.
If you have a specific need, I could dig around and take a look..... I had
one of their "automatic" 10EEs that has the power fed tail turret and the
power cross slide. I didn't have the BIG electrical cabinet for it and the
machine ways weren't too good, so I kept the cross slide, turret, and
headstock, motor and panels (covers) and junked the rest.

Thanks,

Ward M.

#)The going rate around here seems to be in the neighborhood of $5000 US,
#)but I'm in a manufacturing center (Detroit).
#)
#)If you have the time and look around, you can find them for considerably
#)less, particularly if the drive is blown. I got mine for $300, but it
#)was disassembled and missing a few pieces.
#)
#)Early 10EEs used a 3hp DC motor and had a lower (2000 or so) top speed.
#)They also used a flat belt instead of the 2 V belts.
#)
#)There are 2 reasonable approaches to drive conversion. One is to
#)replace the DC motor with a 3 phase AC motor and a VFD control. This
#)works very nicely and you can even buy all of the parts from Monarch.
#)The other is to replace the control with a solid state DC control and
#)keep the original motor. To do this right takes a bit, but it's not
#)overly complicated. I'll be doing that to mine when I can get to it.
#)
#)KB Electronics makes DC drives and they have some experience with
#)customers who have converted 10EEs.
#)
#)If you do go for a fix up, make sure it has all of the panels; they're
#)impossible to find on the used market and Monarch wants a huge amount
#)of money for them.
