The Monarch 10EE is a beautifull machine, very heavily built for its
intended capacity, but this is to give high quality finishes and help
one hold low tolerances, not to enable one to take heavy cuts. Things
like the MT 2 tailstock are not-so-subtle hints that this is a solid
small machine, not a wimpy big one. I think it would be happier with
an 8" chuck than a 10".

You probably won't get much for the 12x36 on the used market, so why
not keep it to abuse for heavy stuff and get the 10EE for high
precision stuff?
