well real quick you can get an XY table with steppers/servos from MAXNC.

if you want to go high price (real HIGH) techno Isel will fix you right up.

If you don't have much money you can get a 5x8 travel table for about $110
with a 4" by 12" inch travel and hang some used size 23 steppers on it and
then build you own controllers with 2 jk flip-flops and a bunch of tip 120
transistors (not a chopper but cheap and quick)
