hpgl code and plotters was What does open mean?

Hi Chris,

A cnc speech writer? Hmmmm.

I can't help remembering watching old vector plotters (bed style, so
the paper is stationary). If you read the IX manual, and look at the
command list, there appears to be more than a little HPGL "genetics"
involved...

And those plotters sure looked CVV to me! Took the rom chip out of an
old HI dmp-40? and looked at the hex. Bausch and lomb copyright right
there in the top of the file. So we didn't go further...

A Z80 and CTC (timer/counter chip)= two axes of fast, smooth motion.
I have tried to find source code for these old plotters, but have
been unsuccessful. Still looking... Anyone??

There are lots of people who have written NEW hpgl compatible stuff
(like luberth and majosoft). It seems that in Europe the home cnc
movement stems from HPGL- adapted for cutting...

P.S. Don Lancaster mentioned awhile back putting a plotter pen size
dental air turbine in an old pen plotter and making pc bds/engraving.
The dental turbine referenced in his column was a "disposable" model
and about 20 bucks. Interesting concept, what with pen plotters being
thrown away as obsolete left and right... Might be more info on his
website at www.tinaja.com
