One thing you haven't mentioned is packaging.

An idea I had is make the board form factor the exact same as an ATX PC
motherboard. You then have an unlimited supply of inexpensive enclosures
and power supplies, one of the biggest problems with any hardware solution.
Of course make the power supply connector the same as an ATX PC power supply
as I suggested before.

And, if the Axis slots just happened to align with the expansion slots on
the case, all the better! ;) Your geckos can then be mounted on easily
replaceable cards which plug directly into the motherboard. Want another
axis? Just plug it in.

This would make for a nice tidy, 'wireless' setup...
