I guess one other caveat:

To run any of these DOS G-Code interpreters successfully, it's important to
boot into DOS directly on startup, and not use any "DOS box" that Windows
may provide.

|if you are using the win 98 dos, you have win 98 dos,
|if you are dual booting you may have a different dos.

|at the dos prompt, type ver to get the version you are running.
|
|and if you are using windoz of any sort, you do have a config.sys and
|autoexec.bat file that runs when you open a dos window, or when you
|boot to dos either before windoz opens or when you shutdown-reboot to
|dos.
|
|but do note you can have different settings for each dos window you
|open. to do that, make a shortcut on you desktop and you can select
|properties and modify those settings for that shortcut to dos window.
