if you are using the win 98 dos, you have win 98 dos,
if you are dual booting you may have a different dos.

at the dos prompt, type ver to get the version you are running.

and if you are using windoz of any sort, you do have a config.sys and
autoexec.bat file that runs when you open a dos window, or when you
boot to dos either before windoz opens or when you shutdown-reboot to
dos.

but do note you can have different settings for each dos window you
open. to do that, make a shortcut on you desktop and you can select
properties and modify those settings for that shortcut to dos window.
