I wouldn't worry too much about this aspect. TurboCNC is somewhat
sensitive to interrupt structure, but from your description of the
stalling problem as software independent I'd say it might have
something to do with the stepper motor/drive combination instead.

You mentioned in a previous post that you were getting 10 ipm at
best on a Sherline with the current setup. A quick calculation says
this is probably about right depending on which of Dan's drives
you're using (2A?).

You can switch to a higher voltage chopper drive to eek out a bit
more high speed torque - that's probably the cheapest way around the
issue. Dan has some servo drives as well that are quite good.

Someday, some enterprising individual will plot the torque and load
curves for these machines/drive combinations to take the guesswork
out of the process.
