Lee,
I already replied to you offlist, but this post got me thinking...
It would seem MUCH easier to use a solenoid for this than a stepper!
You would use the same type of "pawl" setup that most shapers already
have. It would be relatively easy to rig a circuit for sending one or
more "clicks" per switch closure, and there is no need to deal
with "phases", just on and off... The need to Switch debounce could
prob'ly be eliminated as well.
