I picked up one at lazy-B (Boeing) surplus for about 30 bucks to use
as a PCB plotter ,thats really about all it will stand up to in stock
condition

you might be able to hack it into a micro-lathe control for the clisby

but you would have to figure the conversion ratio from the direct belt driven
plotter units (1/40th mm) to belt driving a 20TPI lead screw
it should give a very fine resolution with this setup and the mechanical
advantage of the screw should make up for the wimpyness of the motors

drat I'm starting to talk myself into yet another project ;-)
