They are typically about 12 inches long, 2 inches square and made of solid cast iron. The base is hand scraped and may
be flat or possess a slight inverted V for placement on a cylindrical surface. The bubbles ( X and Y but generally not Z )
have a resolution of .0005 inches per foot. Put one on a level surface and you can see the bubble move as you walk
toward it, even on a 6 inch slab of concrete.

Enco sells a real nice one for about $95. It shows up in the sale catalog every three months or so. MSC gets $150 for the
same one. These are made in Poland. There is a fellow up in NY selling Chinese and Russian levels on ebay. I got a 4
surface levelling square for $75 from him. It's perfect.

The Starrett model 199 is also nice if you don't mind spending $496 for the same thing.
