Steve,
That was interesting... The SimpleStep has a driver for the stepper but they cannot do CNC g-code
form the FAQ

Q. Do you have a CNC program to run your Simple Step Boards?
A. Currently we do not have a program that will create G or M codes and translate them into Simple Step commands. This is
being worked on however, but we do not expect a release of any software until the second quarter of 2000. It may turn out that
any first attempt of a software release may be for the Mac.

They are also running the RS-232 in parallel, but I notice they are only using 57600 Baud, I expect this is because of the slew
rate limiting due to the excessive loading of the RS232 line... Although the claim "Magna is using a new RS232 interface chip
that allows us to parallel the RxD and TxD lines." I would be interested to see who make this chip.
However, it is easy to parallel RxD and Txd using ordinary interface chips, I do it often enough for debugging, but the errors
increase and I have to drop Baud rate... I suspect Simple Step will have a distance problem with that RS232 arrangement !

Anyway it's close, but it has a driver, I want to use existing hardware, no need to make people buy new motor drivers...

Thanks
hansw
