I just put a complete headstock, motor, speed control unit on the bathroom
scale and it is about 6 - 7 lbs.

Other than being able to buy whatever piece or combination you want (motor &
speed control, motor & speed control & headstock, headstock, etc.) the only
real option is if you get it set up as the normal ratio which gives a max
RPM of a little over 3000 rpm or if you get it with the 10,000 rpm pulley
set.

There are flex shafts offered by Foredom which are designed to connect to a
chuck or collet and then have the standard handpiece connector on the other
end. You could use it with that as long as 10,000 rpm was enough for you.
Most flexshaft tools go to 15,000 - 18,000 rpm.

Anyone that is considering should remember the price is increasing at the
end of the month. It really does give you the features set of EMC and more
in an easy to use Windows environment.
