Hi,
amp wise you are good.
I am not familair with the drives, but the back emf needs to be
included in the peak voltage.
Running at 44 volts would not give any protection unless the drive
uses 44 at the save limit with internal protection. using 28 volts
as you want to do will offer a safe margin.
Using the 5 to 20 times rated voltage of the steppers, I would expect
your steppers are rated for less than 5 volts. Is it PacSci that
rates them and operational voltages ? I am not sure. checking the
resistance and ohms law would verify that.
