Hi Alex,
3 wires! That makes the SS50 a SYNCRONOUS motor. 60Hz. Not much use
to us as a stepper (although I have heard tails of them being rewired
to be sloppy steppers).
The 20V and 30V motors are DC MOTORS (possibly servos)! I'd been
thinking that you were talking about a nice cache of STEPPER MOTORS!
These voltages now make perfectly good sense. Do they turn with a few
volts on them? A good servo motor (I'm told) will turn with a few
volts. Put on a few more volts, is the rotation smooth, or does it
feel like it cogs? This too is an indication of a motor's suitability
for servo use.
Now that we know what motors you have, I'm sure others on this list
can offer more (better) comments.
