Mine are basic oiled steel, so there's no chrome to flake off. I'm
probably going to end up replacing them, but there are a few options I
can try, first.

I think I'll start by casting a tighter nut, using JBWeld. It seems to
have many of the same properties as Moglice, but it's easily available
around here. We'll see how that works.

Finally, someone else who views it the same way I do! Yes, I could have
just bought a better quality unit, but where's the fun in that?! ;-)
(Besides, for me it's all about budget, and this unit costs just a
little more than a trip to the movies, and less than Starbuck's coffee
for a week.)

Define high precision, please. I'm hoping for at least .01", though I'd
like .001" or better if I could get it. I'm not trying to make super
precision parts here...just to enjoy myself, and build incrementally
better tools with each iteration.
