Hi Graham,

I've been advising AGAINST it. The logic power should be separate from
the possibly noisy (spikes) motor power. Dropping from 80v to 5v is
probably asking for problems, and is a considerable stress on the
regulator(s).

I just built another Gecko driver/PS (see Driver/PS in files), and I
found a small "in line" 5v supply to incorporate in my box. I removed
the plastic case, and the AC and DC connectors, and secured the PCB of
the supply onto my box (use insulated mounting). Nice and convenient!

Otherwise, I'd either use a "wall wart" 5v supply, or a 6-12v supply and
the 5V regulator circuit you are currently using.

As your box is being driven from something with 5v logic (laptop, SBC,
etc), why not just steal the 5v from it? I believe that's what most of
us are doing (my first two driver/PS boxes did this).
