Here's how I do it.
Take the +5 from a connector inbside the PC and run it to the
gecko's. don't connect the ground, as the signals lines will act as
the ground.
The high voltage WILL cook your servo's, set your timer to three
minutes and watch them cook. (of course you could have some
seriously high voltage servos, which would love that voltage, but the
gecko's will cook). You should have some serious heat sinks behind
them as well.
Just remember the Keep It Simple thing. loose the power supply. get
some 1440 VA ups off of ebay. open UPS case and use the 24v across
those 2 big batteries. They will be fused for somthing in the 100A
area so you'll be good to go. Plug the PC power in the back of the
UPS. Turn off the UPS warning beeper, as when you do a rapid
traverse the UPS "see's" that as a bad battery and will start
screaming.
I run my setup from 9am to 10pm (yes 13 hours a day) and nothing gets
hot to the touch. Warm yes, but never, ever warmer than my coffee
mug :) I will snap 3/8 cutters all day before I tax the servos.
If you want to email me Aaron_Moss@... well do the phone
number thing and walk through the rest of the steps or BS to check.
thanks
