One point it seems NO ONE involved in all this conversation about
limit-switch accuracy realizes: It is moot and hardly relevant if a switch has a
"repeatability" better than, say, 0.005" if the machine has travels over about 10" in
either axis, and the machine is not kept in a "clean room" with an ambient
temperature-tolerance of no more than ±3°! Because a four- to twelve foot
travel will change FAR more than that tiny amount if the AC cycles, and/or the sun
peeks through that big skylight in the shop-ceiling, even if you DO have
precision-ground "optical grade" lead-screws with preloaded ball-nuts certified to
millionths!
