All this is great when you are compareing outputs on a dyno, but it is
not real world. A friend of mine has a tool and die shop, a nice mill
set up with steppers and an Ahha control. When thread milling a part the
resonance of the cutter would interact with the steppers in certain
quadrants of the cut and it would loose MANY steps ruining the part. By
the time he got the feed slowed down to where it would not skip it took
over 2 hours to cut. He bought another mill that had servos and a bad
control, I put on Gecko 320's and a PC, now the job takes 6 minutes.
Granted, this is an extreme case, but somewhere between this and a dyno
is where most people on this board are useing there machines.
