Hopefully you only have the 5 volt issue on the port that is driving
your stepper motor drivers, and would only need one breakout board.

We sell a board, the PMDX-122, that will properly drive the Gecko
products and is a bit less expensive at $81.00 each. The trade off
for the lower price is that this board does not provide optical
isolation. Given that you had hoped to run without any breakout
board, this should not be an issue.
