I THINK HE MEANS GETTING 5vdc OUT OF THE usb PORT-NOT USING THE usb PORT
ITSELF.

Keith,
I have no idea whether a USB to LPT converter will provide the
required voltage, but you should also consider the software you are
planning to use. For example, TurboCNC ONLY runs under pure DOS and
unless you have DOS drivers with the USB to LPT connector that will
allow you to output to the standard LPT addresses, I bet you will be
out of luck. If your software is Windows based as I understand some
are (Maybe Mach??), this may not be a concern.
