I am interested in the comment that sufficient voltage is available from a
USB port. I was looking to purchase a new laptop the other day to drive my
CNC interface, and was surprised to find that this particular make (Acer)
did not have a parallel port as standard. The salesman tried to sell me a
USB to Parallel converter, but as I was unsure that such a device would put
out sufficient volts, I declined the sale.
Can you confirm that the voltage from one of these USB-parallel converters
will put out sufficient volts?
