Interesting thought George.
Currently I use an old Toshiba Tecra 520CDT running Winders98SE with 32meg
RAM. This has a 166MHz processor, Pentium MMX. I had always believed that
a faster system with more RAM was required to run Win XP.
I has started to look for a suitable cheap second hand machine, but might
see if I can install XP. Trouble is, the machine seems terribly slow
compared with my desktop machine, although, by the standards of only ten
years ago, it was quite fast.
I don't think that a fast machine is required to run a CNC interface, so if
WinXP will run on my present machine, I would be more than happy. Might
try to obtain some more RAM for it first.
