So what you're saying is, all those people driving cars should really
get planes because that's what they *really* need? (And just don't know it)

I, for one, would be really happy to get an electronic threading
thingamajigee for $150. Would I then yearn for full CNC control?
Probably yes. Do I need full CNC control? Probably no. Do I want to
spend $2k on CNC'ing a $500 lathe? Definitely no.

Hell - I have a ready-to-go Hardinge CHNC1 lathe bed w/ballscrews,
servos (don't know if they work), turret, spindle.. etc sitting in my
driveway. All it needs is new controls and an enclosure. I'll probably
never get around to retrofitting it because for the time and money I'm
probably better off just buying an older running NC lathe.

Anyone want a nice CHNC1 lathe bed? :)
