HI Bob,

I'll venture an answer to the first two questions.

A 555 timer to drive steppers/servos was recently discussed on this (or
possibly the Sherline lists). Schematic in files.

Only connect one motor to one Gecko, but you can switch the step/dir lines
with a DPDT switch, or logic (or even a uP). This was also mentioned,
someone asked no more then a week or two ago!
