It appears to be a standard application of PLL (phase locked loop). Not true CNC, but if spindle speed, traverse and cross feed can be linked by ratio, this would be enormously helpful on lathes like mine - a SIEG C6B. Electronic Taper "Attachment" - for one thing...

I was also able to see the article, but in the 11 pages, I did not
have a chance to review the technology.

As a note, there were some huge and horrible photos at the end of the
article.

If this is a real and workable technology, then I'll post a copy of
the article in the files section. pdf.
