Hi Sebastien and all:
Don't be upset with the company selling the one-half inch studs.
It is standard practice to list the tee nut by the diameter of the
thread it uses. Also, since the tee slots vary a lot from machine to
machine be sure and measure the size of the slots in your machine and
then tell the people at Little Machine Shop the size of the tee slot,
the machine it is in and the size of stud you want to use. On the
larger machines you can get tee nuts of different stud sizes to fit
the same tee slot. The sizes available is handy info when building
your own machine so you don't have to make all the tee nuts and
studs. Ahh. I just remembered that threaded rod works good when you
can't find standard studs.
Also, on the longer table design it is often made with a series
of threaded bolt holes in lines at even spacing. Then, half way in
both directions between the rows you can put in a dowel hole for
location. This way the dowel holes do the location and stay accurate
while the threaded hole can become loose from a lot of use.
0 0 0 0 Bolts
o o o Dowels
0 0 0 0 Bolts
I hope this makes it clear and helps.

I think they are called tooling plates or fixture plates, but I'm not certain.
That's what they are called in
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO/msearch?query=%22tooling+plate%22&submit=Search&charset=UTF-8
People sell them. Check out:

I want to make something similar with my taig mill. But I can't, because I
don't have a decent clamping kit for it yet. I bought a kit from busybee,
and then found out the 1/2" on the package referred to the width of the
studs, not the width of the t-slot nuts. I am annoyed.
I'll probably get a clamping kit from these guys.
