Re: 1720XMTC shoptask z axis Ballscrews

I built all of Chuck McGhee's CNC units and since he only lived about 25 miles from me , I went down to his shop on several occasions to set up new controls or to fix some problems he had converting from Maxnc software to Mach1, 2 and 3.
As I recall he used a dual ballscrew with a 300 oz in stepper motor driving two pulleys that were bored to fit ball nuts. The nuts rotated while the ballscrew were stationary but when connected to his quill would raise and lower it. But I am not absoluetely positive. I will email chuck and see if he can send me the picture. He is no longer working with his machines as his healt prevents him from setting it up in his new location.
