Hi Andy,
Yeah, its mostly an annoyance which is why I havent chased it down on the
MACH group.
A more pressing problem is my Z axis speed. Im using a 10 TPI ½ ACME
screw along with a Teflon plastic nut I created with a tap made from the
same all-thread material. Going down with gravity assist the motor skips
steps and locks up since the friction on the screw is so low. Going up I
can go 4x faster due to the load from the router.
Im in the middle of making a new mount to hold an extruder which will be a
lot lighter and I now also have a GECKO 250 I can also try as a stepper
motor driver. Could well be the driver Im using is inadequate. Or Ill
have to add a spring load of some sort.
Thanks for the comments.
John

OK, well that is unique to your system, and probably solvable.
If you are already tuned, though, it is not a priority, I bet.

Its not that the up/down keys dont work. They do. I click on the Z axis
button. Press the up/down keys and the router goes up and down. Move the
slider on the RHS of the motor tuning screen and see the velocity profile
change.
Try the up/down keys and the Z axis moves at exactly the same speed. The
setting chosen by the slider (both accel and velocity) arent passed down to
the SS inside the dialog. Now if I adjust the slider, click OK and then use
the jog buttons or go back into the motor turning dialog the motor now moves
at the new speed.
But its not really tunable inside the dialog like it was with the ESS port.
John
That's very strange-the UP and DOWN arrow keys work for me in the motor
tuning dialog, with my ESS, and they also worked with the USB SS I had
before that.
