Peter I think you are reading more into it than was intended!

I don't think Malcolm was directing it at an individual, but rather the
apparently growing number of companies who are pushing some increasingly
poor quality product in a desperate attempt to keep shareholders happy
rather than ACTUALLY service their customers and obviously he as been
caught in that web at some point.

I started the thread because I was looking for a particular answer, but
it would seem that several years on there is still not a 'front runner'
perhaps in part because the base is so badly broken? Everything has it's
negatives which we still have to live with and it is often the base
which is broken rather than the products we are buying? WHICH versions
of windows will Mach3 parallel port actually run on ... which have
stable USB ports ... just where is a particular bug located :(
