you can get flash disks in just about any drive format you want now
check http://m-sys.com the've got them for IDE,ATA,PCMCIA and even
a DIMM memory slot disk

but I think that would be getting ahead of ourselves , for the development
and tinkering stage its easy to just stack up a couple of old castoff PCs
networked and booting from the regular drives as PLCs-I/O expansion or
motion control boxes and downsize the cluster once the bugs get worked out
