So far, it has worked flawlessly. Well, almost flawlessly. In
interpreting the G-code it has run perfectly. In jog mode, there is a lack
of filtering non-intended keypresses that sometimes have undesirable
effects (like moving all three axes at once).
I still need to do some experimenting and tweaking of the speed and
acceleration parameters. The fastest I'm able to move the axes reliably is
about 10 ipm. I'm using the Sherline motors and Dan Mauch's 2A driver
board with a 24V, 8.3A switching power supply from Marlin P. Jones (with a
6800uf cap across the output).
The best thing is that it is free, non-time-or-steps limited, can read in
unlimited size G code files (my latest surfacing cut was running for about
4 hours) and lets me be running while I decide whether it would be worth
buying CNCPro or another commercial software.
Best regards,
Randy
