Except for the time and effort of learning a new operating system that will
only be used for this application... :-)

I like free, but 'm really happy with DOS, having used it for many years.
And a humongous G-code file will fit on a 1.44 floppy.

Do you have a DOS/Windows background and can tell me how much effort is
involved in learning Linux and getting it and EMC up and running? I
haven't seriously thought about it at all yet.
