I think the point here is that, although SCSI drives are easily supported by
linux and hence EMC, they are not included in Paul's BDI CD. This was a
decision taken to try to reduce the size of the distribution and make
installation easy for the majority of people who are likely only to have
straightforward commercial PCs. At the moment, if you want to go along with
SCSI drives, you will have to build linux and EMC from scratch - still not
too difficult a job using the pre-patched rtlinux kernels but you would have
to install a basic complete RedHat 6.0 distribution first. This would set up
the SCSI disks and you would then have to build the new kernel with SCSI
support and then install EMC. - Far easier to spend a few dollars on an IDE
drive and let the BDI do it all!
