Of course if you are really trying to save money, you might just
counter drill the head clearance hole and not worry if there is a
flat under the head of your Socket head screws. In soft material as
you tighten the screw, it will bite into the angle left by the drill
tip. With those small sizes you are probably overdesigning your
fasteners, so the contact under the screw head probably does not
matter.
