HI all! last week i did a bunch of web searching for tangential vs drag
knife (thank you google), the only thing the articles and such could agree
on was that if you want to cut smaller then 1/16" letters (1.6mm aprox) you
need tangengial... but for anything else, the drag knife (properly
sharpened) is just fine... NOW, i have no personaly experience, this is just
what i read, can anyone back this up or prove it wrong?
i also found a drag knife attachment..
http://www.aeronautauto.com/pages/consumables.html#Anchor3
(you will probably have to cut and paste the broken link above)
(its at the bottom of the page---cuts under its own weight?)
does anyone have experience with this sort of thing?
---thanks!---Dave L.

Peter,
Don't know if this will work for your application in 2mm cardboard,
but I've seen vinyl cutting machines which use a "drag" knife. The
cutterhead is free to rotate and the cutting edge is behind center so
the cutter will follow (in a tangential path or close to it) as the
head traverses the pattern. Have you looked at that style of knife?
Very simple compared to a C axis orientation setup.
