  Hi,
The current set resistor forms the bottom half of a voltage divider.
The top resistor (internal) is 47K and pulls up to a 17 volt
reference.
The motor current is directly proportional to the voltage across
terminals 11 and 12, 12 being ground.
If you want to use a potentiometer to set the current, I would
suggest using a 1K pot and an LM317 regulator set to 17 volts. One
end of the pot would go to +17VDC, the other end to ground (terminal
12) and the wiper to terminal 11.
You can then mark a dial in 1A increments. The settings would be
evenly spaced instead of being scrunched up at one end as they would
be if you just used a pot across 11 and 12.
