Tool changing on lathes is much simpler than on mills, since the tools don't
spin, they stay in one place relative to the carraige. The means of doing this
is the turret, a turntable on top of the carriage which is indexed for the next
position when a new tool is needed.
Although there are simple toolpost turrets with four positions (ones from
Hardinge show up on eBay from time to time) if you want a lathe with tool
changing capibilites you should probably look at a lathe that was set up as a
turret (or in the UK, capstain) lathe originally.
