EMCO COMPACT 5 LATHE TURRET

The lathe tools are held in place with set screws (2), from the bottom of the
slots. The hole type of tool holders on the points have bushings bored to
fit the tool, and set screw (1) going thru the bushing sides to hold the tool
and bushing in place.

The ends of the triangle shaped turret are rounded off, the height from the
flat to the radius at the top is about 4 3/16 of an inch. By the way, the
turret is mounted vertically.

The tool rotates up past the ratchet, and then reverses to the ratchet stop
to be in cutting position. The DC motor is always applying a reduced torque
to hold it in this position when cutting.

This is a small machine 5 x 12 lathe, it does have reverse, but not sure the
turret would hold in position when cutting in reverse.

Remember as the tool rotates up the ratchet releases, when it gets to the
next position it goes far enough for the next ratchet position, then the
turret reverses, and goes backwards (down) and locks up the ratchet. The
reduced motor torque holds the turret against the stop, for cutting.
Directions of movement are at the lathe centerline.
