I personally have not been impressed with the Roto-Zip tool for any CNC application. I never bought one but the boss did at work. He picked up the variable speed model. It wasn't a week (and with
really no useage) that someone twisted the collet lock out of the thing. It sat around until I yanked it apart and found that short of some plastic, nothing keeps this thing from breaking. The good
thing is once the built in lock is removed, you can shove any pin in thru a hole to manually lock the shaft from turning.
The bearings are probably as good as any, but the structure around it would not be much for any CNC application.
The variable speed part annoyingly ALWAYS starts on high and you have to bring it back down.
It's overall quality likely makes it a fabulous candidate for zipping holes in drywall and some "craft" work.... its original purpose. This one just sits in the box as no one uses it for anything
anymore.
