Peter,

You don't need a tapping head to tap with your Taig. A tap holder
with an axial tension and compression feature will do the job quite
well. Of course, you will need a programmable spindle reverse, plus
a spindle motor with enough torque to start turning an embedded tap
when you reverse the spindle to screw the tap out of the hole.
