Wow! Thanks for the instructions! I'll be able to comment more
tonight, when I can try a little more. Some initial comments below:

I have three partitions I can work in (D, E &F), and they are currently
empty.

OK, I didn't "set" any new partitions last time. I just gave E: a '/'.
I'll do that. I take it that "lilo" is a boot manager of sorts?

I didn't see anything of the "can you read this", and I didn't notice
the generic monitor. Probably what I should've used.

Never got a reboot before, so this gives me a better idea of what's
going on! I had set the BIOS to boot CD first, and when I first brought
the system up with the "previously Windoz98 formatted" disk, and went to
look for a driver, it launched into a "W98 Release 2" update, and Windoz
is now release 2 (which I took to mean that the drive was capable of
booting from the CD). Fairly new Award BIOS.

This sounds like what I need, Please stay tuned, I appreciate the help!
